A Quick 20-Minute Yoga Routine Your Body And Mind Will Thank You For
In the midst of burnout following a year of constant work during an unprecedented pandemic, I have decided to embrace a lifestyle of doing less. In essence, I am attempting to break away from the cycle of toxic productivity and simply allow myself to live. In a recent episode of Good Moves, Paris Alexandra, co-founder of BK Yoga Club, delivers a message that resonates with me deeply at this moment: “I am worthy of rest,” she encourages.
“Often, we move from one task to another without pausing to slow down,” Alexandra remarks. “Today, I urge you to take a moment to decelerate and connect with your breath.”
The yoga routine she presents in the video is a “rest and renewal” flow, promoting gentleness and vitality simultaneously. Yoga has been shown to lower levels of anxiety, depression, stress, and chronic pain, as well as enhance the quality of sleep.
Currently, we are not only recovering from the challenges of 2020 but also gearing up for exciting times ahead in what’s being called a “shot girl summer.” Incorporating this 20-minute flow into your daily or weekly routine can help you rejuvenate your pre-pandemic zest for life or, at the very least, cope with the overwhelming schedules many of us have taken on in recent times. Hit play, and take a moment to breathe deeply into your muscles and emotions. You, like me, truly deserve it.
