Having tight hips, shoulders, or lower back issues can be alleviated by focusing on mobility through slow, intentional movements designed to increase your joint flexibility. In this Trainer of the Month session with Nike Trainer Tara Nicolas, you will be guided through a series of exercises using just a yoga mat and an optional block to help your body move into deeper, more dynamic stretches.

Enhancing mobility involves working on both flexibility and muscle strength around your joints, particularly in your neck, shoulders, wrists, and hips. The workout begins with shoulder circles to activate your upper-arm joint and progresses to exercises for the arms, wrists, and neck. You will experience supported head circles to release tension in the shoulders and arms.

The routine continues with side lunges to open up tight hips, common from prolonged sitting. Finally, Nicholas wraps up the session with seated hip mobility exercises and a relaxing cooldown on your back, focusing on mindful breathing to show appreciation to your body for its efforts.
