The Best Keto Diet With Grain Free Bread
Going on a Keto Diet is a great way to stay fit and healthy. It is basically a diet that has adequate proteins, high fat, and low or no carbohydrates. This diet prompts the body to burn fat as the primary source of energy. In other words, it is a diet that our caveman ancestors followed as they had no knowledge of grains. And still, they were fit and active (so says the science)!!
What is a Keto Diet? In this diet, you need to restrict your carbohydrate intake to less than 15g per day for better results. It implies that you need to keep your glucose level low. You also cannot eat milk, yogurt, fruits, legumes, and sugary foods. Eat healthy fats like- nuts, fish, butter, oils, etc.
If you also want to lose weight the healthy way, going on the ketosis path can be a good idea. But let me warn you before you start- You cannot eat bread as grains are not allowed. The only difference in Keto and wheat belly is that wheat belly does allow milk but more protein whereas Keto allows more fat moderate protein and moderate carbs, so the choice is yours.
Now, we all are habitual of eating bread as a part of our daily diet, and shunning bread altogether is not a viable idea for most people. Before you start crying your heart out, I’ve some good news- You can eat Keto Bread which is easy to make and also tastes great.
A bread without grains- sounds interesting? I’m sure it does, so let us start-
You don’t need any fancy ingredients for this. Just the following humble ingredients.
Ingredients-
- 3 large eggs
- 75g ground almonds and peanuts. I had some roasted almonds and peanut in ghee and I just ground them so it turned out brown. You can blanched almonds and then dry them up and then grind them to make almond flour or you can buy from outside which by the way is quite expensive here. You can skip out peanuts if you wish the bread to look like our usual brown bakery bread.
- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- A bit of butter/Ghee
Now, all you have got to do is- take all the ingredients in a mixing bowl (don’t forget to break the eggs :P) and whisk until you get a smooth and well-aerated batter.
Grease a loaf tin and pour the mixture into it or anything which is suitable for you. As I wasn’t able to find my loaf tin so I used this one. Cook it in the oven at 200 C for 20 minutes.
And you are done! This is probably the simplest recipe to prepare healthy and yummy bread quickly. It is tasty and does not need any accompaniments. It can be eaten alone like a soft cake albeit savoury. If you like your loaves of bread to be crispy, then you can grill it also.
To add more taste to the recipe you can have it with any low carb food of your choice like mozzarella, olive oil, pesto, and basil.
So now, you got a healthy yet tasty alternative to the regular high-carb grain bread. This bread tastes like cornbread and I like to spread peanut butter on it and have it with a big cup of sugar-free coffee.
