This Cherry Face Scrub Made My Dry, Flakey Chin Feel Super Smooth Almost Instantly
Face scrubs are the kind of product that has been in my routine off and on since I was a teen, but only in the past couple of years have I really come to appreciate how they improve my skin and prepare it for makeup. But even though I love face scrubs, there hasn’t been one that I’d consider my holy grail—that is, until I tried the Fenty Skin Cherry Dub Superfine Daily Cleansing Face Scrub ($28).
As you can guess by the name, this face scrub’s star ingredient is the Barbado cherry. Cherries are not only a delicious summertime stone fruit, but they also have a whole host of benefits for the skin. As board-certified dermatologist Shari Sperling, MD told Well+Good previously, “Cherries contain anthocyanins which are a great source of antioxidants. They also contain vitamins A, B, C, and E, which are great for keeping skin healthy, and they can help with pigmentation and skin rejuvenation.”
Other fruit ingredients in the scrub include cranberry, papaya, pomegranate, and pineapple, which are meant to help with texture and rejuvenate the skin. Lastly, energizing caffeine is in the scrub which would make it a good morning ritual.
Aside from exfoliating away dry, flakey skin, the scrub is supposed to brighten the complexion and reduce the appearance of pores.
My honest review:
From the jump, I was excited for this scrub because I liked how it was made with cherries. This might actually be the first cherry face scrub I’ve tried. The packaging is cute (as always with all things Fenty) and the scrub smells exactly like a bag of cherries from the farmer’s market. Now, my favorite place to use face scrubs is in the shower. It’s a bit of a self-care moment for me, as I’ll usually take some time massaging my face with the scrub and just wash it away when I’m done. (So much less messy than at the bathroom sink.)
After using the Fenty Skin Cherry Dub Superfine Daily Cleansing Face Scrub for a day or two, I had already begun noticing that the tiny, dry flakes on my chin were becoming less apparent. After a week, my skin looked brighter and felt smooth and soft. Also, the pores on my nose looked less noticeable, but there wasn’t a dramatic reduction in its appearance. The actual scrub part is made with superfine sugar and silica exfoliants, and I felt it was super gentle.
I was never concerned with the scrub damaging my skin, and though the formula was strong enough to buff away my flakes while keeping it hydrated. All in all, this scrub is fabulous for a ton of reasons, and I look forward to using it when I shower. Thanks, Rihanna!
